ALSEAL AS-700 BX Bitumen Emulsion Waterproofing is an economical, ready-to-use bitumen emulsion coating designed for general waterproofing, wet-area protection and metal corrosion protection.

This dark brown, viscous liquid forms a flexible, durable waterproofing coating suitable for a wide range of compatible building and industrial surfaces. Its water-based formulation is designed to provide high water vapour permeability, helping reduce the risk of blistering when applied to suitably prepared substrates.

Typical Applications

General Waterproofing

Suitable for compatible concrete, brick, bitumen and mastic asphalt membranes, asbestos cement, slates, tiles, lead, copper, zinc, corrugated iron and similar surfaces.

Wet Area Waterproofing

Suitable for applications including toilets, kitchens, balconies, walls, planter boxes and insulation protection, subject to substrate suitability and project requirements.

Metal Protection

Designed for protective coating applications involving compatible pipes, structural steelwork, gutters, downpipes, shed walls, water tanks, troughs, metal fence posts, garden frames, windmill frames, drums, outdoor machinery and other metallic equipment.

Application Information

1. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry and free from dirt, grease, oil and moisture.
2. Repair cracks, breaks and open seams using a suitable heavy-duty sealer.
3. Stir well before use.
4. Apply by brush, roller or soft broom at the specified application rate of approximately 1.33 L/m².
5. For best results, apply two coats, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second coat at right angles.
6. Each coat should exceed 1 mm thickness, with at least 4 hours drying time per coat. Actual drying time varies with conditions.
7. For reinforcement, open-woven glass fibre may be incorporated into the uncured first coat, followed by the second coat before the first coat is completely dry.
8. Protect the coating from frost and rain until fully cured.

• Substrate suitability: Suitable only for compatible, properly prepared surfaces. Confirm compatibility before application.
• Surface preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dirt, grease, oil and moisture unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.
• Application conditions: Apply between 5°C and 40°C. Protect the coating from frost and rain until fully cured.
• Drying time: Allow at least 4 hours per coat under suitable conditions. Actual drying time varies with temperature, humidity, air movement and wet film thickness.
• Coverage: The specified application rate is approximately 1.33 L/m². Actual coverage depends on surface porosity, texture, application method and coating thickness.
• Water exposure: Do not expose the coating to conditions beyond the manufacturer's recommendations. Allow sufficient curing before protective coatings or other finishes are applied.
• Waterproofing systems: This product may not be suitable for every below-ground, immersed, high-pressure or movement-joint application. Confirm the complete waterproofing system is appropriate for the project.
• Reinforcement: Where required, use compatible open-woven glass fibre reinforcement according to the manufacturer's directions.
• Cleaning: Clean wet tools and equipment with water. Dry material may require white spirit for removal.
