TREMproof 200EC: Water-Based Epoxy Primer & Vapour Retarder

Accelerate Construction Schedules on Green and High-Moisture Concrete

TREMproof 200EC is a revolutionary two-component, water-based epoxy primer specifically engineered to manage moisture in challenging construction scenarios. Its primary function is to act as a highly effective vapour retarder, blocking moisture vapour drive from porous substrates into overlying waterproofing membranes. This unique capability allows it to be applied over "green" concrete and substrates with high moisture content (above 4.5%), enabling projects to proceed without the lengthy delays typically required for concrete to fully dry. By mitigating the risk of vapour-related failures like blistering, TREMproof 200EC provides a critical, reliable foundation for Tremco's polyurethane and acrylic waterproofing systems.

Critical Protection and Versatile Applications

This versatile primer serves two essential purposes in modern construction. Firstly, it acts as a premium priming layer on high-moisture concrete, cementitious screeds, and masonry, ensuring subsequent membranes achieve optimal adhesion and long-term performance. Secondly, when applied at the specified thickness, it functions as a powerful negative-side hydrostatic barrier, capable of withstanding water pressures up to 250 kPa (a 25-meter head). This makes it indispensable for internal applications like basements, plant rooms, and parking decks where water ingress from the negative side is a concern, protecting the structure from water damage.

Advanced Features for a Safer, Faster Worksite

TREMproof 200EC is packed with benefits that address core construction challenges. Its very low VOC content (<30 g/L) and water-based formula improve on-site air quality and safety, minimising exposure to harsh solvents. The product significantly accelerates project timelines by allowing membrane application over new concrete, reducing waiting periods from weeks to hours. Its robust epoxy chemistry creates a tenacious bond to the substrate, providing a stable, pin-hole-free surface that enhances the performance and durability of the entire waterproofing system.

Trusted Performance with Clear Application Guidelines

As a key product in the Tremco CPG portfolio, TREMproof 200EC is backed by extensive technical support and testing. Supplied in a 20-litre kit, it offers a coverage rate of approximately 5mΒ² per litre. For optimal performance, it requires application to a sound, properly prepared substrate and benefits from good ventilation to aid curing. It is not suitable for use as a final, UV-exposed coating. For projects facing moisture challenges or tight deadlines, TREMproof 200EC is the definitive solution for ensuring a dry, secure, and durable building envelope.

Product Limitations

  • Requires adequate ventilation for proper curing; cure time is significantly lengthened in enclosed areas.
  • Not suitable for use as a UV-exposed or trafficable finish.
  • Curing time is dramatically increased in cold temperatures or high humidity environments.
